30 degrees.
In one hour, you’re stepping onto the stage to give a presentation, followed by a networking event.
You open your wardrobe and think exactly what so many female entrepreneurs think during the summer: I just don’t want to be too hot.
It sounds perfectly logical.
And this is where the biggest styling mistake of summer happens.
You reach for the airy linen blouse, the loose-fitting dress or the relaxed wide-leg trousers. After all, you want to feel comfortable and avoid breaking a sweat before you’ve even shaken your first hand. That’s completely understandable.
The problem is that, in this very moment, many women unconsciously leave their Signature Style behind. Instead of dressing for how they want to be perceived, they dress only to survive the heat. That’s exactly why so many female entrepreneurs suddenly look interchangeable during the summer months.
Your personality doesn’t take a summer break.
Myth 1: You shouldn't wear black in summer.
Few styling myths are as persistent as this one. As soon as temperatures rise, dark colours disappear from wardrobes and are replaced with white, beige and pastel shades. After all, everyone says lighter colours are the better choice for summer.
I completely disagree.
It’s not the colour that determines whether you feel hot—it’s the fabric. A high-quality black dress made from linen, TENCEL™ or fine viscose is often far more comfortable than a light-coloured polyester dress.
More importantly, your strongest colours don’t suddenly stop working just because it’s July. If rich contrasts and deeper shades enhance your personality and presence, why would you suddenly dress like someone else?
Your Signature Colors aren’t determined by the weather. They’re determined by your skin tone, your natural contrast, your eye color and your hair color.
Myth 2: The looser, the better.
The hotter it gets, the bigger the silhouettes become. Suddenly everyone is wearing oversized blouses, shapeless maxi dresses and wide-leg linen trousers. Everything has to feel airy and unrestricted.
That can certainly feel comfortable. But very often, it also takes away exactly what creates a powerful presence: structure and proportion. Once your waist, shoulders and body shape disappear, your presence often disappears with them.
The good news is that you don’t have to choose between comfort and style. The right cut allows air to circulate while still creating a polished, elegant and confident silhouette. It’s not about wearing less fabric. It’s about wearing the right fabric in the right shape.
Myth 3: Summer requires a completely different style.
Many women unintentionally tone down their personality during the summer months. They choose simple outfits, skip accessories and wear soft monochromatic looks because they believe that’s what summer style is supposed to look like.
Others swing to the opposite extreme, suddenly wearing bold floral prints, tropical patterns and vibrant colours simply because summer is supposed to feel cheerful.
I believe both approaches miss the point.
Your style shouldn’t change with the seasons. It should reflect your personality in January just as much as it does in July.
Especially during summer, when so many outfits begin to look alike, it’s the details that make you memorable. A statement earring. An interesting shoe shape. A beautiful fabric texture. Or the colours and silhouettes that genuinely express who you are.
That’s exactly what we create together inside my Elevated Style Confidence program. Not the perfect summer wardrobe, but your Signature Style—a style that works beyond trends and beyond seasons.
Personal style isn’t about looking as “summery” as possible. It’s about intentionally choosing every single piece you wear to create maximum impact and a look that’s unmistakably yours.
What I actually focus on when styling women for summer
When I style an entrepreneur, two things matter most to me: how fabric and color work together to enhance her appearance, and how fabric and silhouette influence her overall presence.
The most beautiful colors won’t help if the fabric traps heat, feels uncomfortable against your skin or looks wrinkled and inexpensive after only a short time. High-quality materials such as linen, TENCEL™, fine viscose and cotton not only feel better to wear, they instantly elevate the entire outfit.
Just as importantly, I ask one simple question: Does this outfit support your personality?
Are you buying clothes because they’re everywhere this season? Or are you choosing pieces that strengthen your presence and make you instantly recognisable as the woman behind your brand?
That difference determines whether you’re simply dressed for summer—or dressed to reinforce your personal brand.
My perspective on summer styling
I don’t believe every woman should wear white during summer.
I don’t believe floral prints automatically look stylish.
And I certainly don’t believe black should be off-limits.
I believe your clothing should express your personality—regardless of trends, temperatures or seasons.
Especially in summer, when everyone starts looking alike, you have the opportunity to stand out. Not because your outfit is louder, but because it’s so authentic that people immediately associate it with you.
Final thoughts
Just because it’s 30 degrees outside doesn’t mean your personality should stay in the wardrobe.
Summer isn’t an invitation to tone down your style. It’s an opportunity to show people exactly who you are and what you stand for. That’s what a Signature Style is all about—it works in every season, not just in winter or for special occasions.
People rarely remember whether you wore a linen dress or tailored trousers.
They remember how they feel in your presence.
